Bad neighborhood & bad direction by Fire ( saw earlier but decided someone else could be the pessimist for once)
That would be more interesting if it were more of a time plotted graph. We could be trending towards the upper right but that graph shows us as almost linear to the right. It appears they’re just doing first and last in that graph.
We 100% had the opportunity, roster compliance, and resources to sign Arango…puzzling why we didn’t…hope he doesn’t light us up tomorrow…he may.
Was there even a rumor that 1) the Fire were pursuing him? 2) he had any interest in signing with the Fire? If not, then it was not in the least bit "puzzling."
I’m not going to google all the pieces for you…fairly sure I posted about it back then…there were only so many team with open DPs slots and actively/openly/desperately searching for a DP9….and LA dropped him on the market like something bigger was a foot. And RSL was able to draw him? Ok
So you have nothing. Got it. I looked into it and did not find a single article that the Fire pursued him, hence my question. I would not have asked if I had found the answer for myself. As for what happened. LAFC sold him in early 2023. RSL bought him in June, 2023. He started playing in July, 2023, all according to the official MLS announcement. As for why RSL. They had the cap space. The had the DP slot (he is their only DP, I believe.). He is reunited with Gomez who he played with in Colombia. It actually makes sense that RSL would go after him and that he would sign with them. Edit: You mentioned him three or four times in 2023 Roster Thread, wondering why the Fire did not go for him in Winter, 2023. You then stated you would "rather" have him after he signed with RSL. You posted nothing I could find in 2023 about the Fire actually pursuing him. THAT (not a fantasy) was my question.
The Fire have a -7 goal difference after NINE matches. We have given up the most goals in the East. We have the third fewest points in the East. We suck at absolutely everything related to soccer.
Everyone in the Fire organization below Mansueto needs to go. The rot is just too much to turn this around.
Do I have this correct? We have 4 home games in the next 4 weeks...and... Shaqiri is injured Gutierrez is injured Gimenez is injured Navarro is injured MHS is injured Gutman is injured (although rumored to be close to returning) Gasper is injured Salquist is injured Add to that, from what I can tell, Acosta, Mueller, and Teran are not 90min fit. And...Atlanta is next up. Sheesh
