Honestly the whole “Town FC” experience at PPP was a little surreal. I’ve been to Quakes II games at PPP and there’d be about 200 people in the stands and like 3 people forming a “supporter’s group” with a drum in front of LOBINA. It had the feel of yeah 2nd team no one cares. And then I don’t know how long it will last but suddenly 5k in the stands, merchandise, even a guy running up and down the stands telling people there will be PKs. Even the guy at the gate, when I left before PKs, told me “hey there are going to be PKs!” Later I realized that he was probably stationed there with instructions to tell anyone leaving before PKs that there’d be PKs. I think 1st impressions and all that they really didn’t want people to leave without seeing the ball in the net, and concluding that nothing ever happens in soccer. Bottom line is that this team that nobody cared about suddenly had all these people caring about it. Weird, but a good thing.
Wow so there really were 5k people in the stands like they said there would be... impressive! When you go from to We have already heard (a year or two ago) that Oakland Roots merchandise outsells Earthquakes merchandise... what happens if Bay FC and even The Town FC merch (hah!) starts outselling Quakes gear? Will they finally rebrand and get rid of the horrific Kaval crest?
I have to say that is a nice scarf, love the art deco design that matches their crest... and it's not in their very limited online store https://the-town-fc.myshopify.com/collections/all
I think it was around 5k? The Audi parking lot was full. Most of the north / west stands were full. The 102 / 103 sections were more full than Quakes games. It was thinner on the other side by the ultras section, for some reason.
This is where The Town FC needs to get to This is insane… Philadelphia Union II’s squad from this weekend 👀Only 1 player over 21 🤯Via @MarlonLeBlanc4 pic.twitter.com/zeNIdoTUqX— Youth Soccer Central (@yscentral) April 24, 2024
I've watched two of the Town games this season on tv, and they rank among the sleepiest matches I've ever seen. Hopefully this is ok for our guys' development.
