I'm glad he's this transparent about his lifestyle early on and how it all made him get an ego. I really get the impression that a lot of football players don't realize that just because they stopped being poor doesn't mean the same happened to the people that support them. They are still living their struggles and come out to support regardless. The fact that he understands his mistakes gives a good insight into his mental state. That's a rare thing.
Great read and confirms what we already know. Federico is a stand up guy. Coming from nothing to millions and still having the self awareness to keep your feet on the ground is not a common trait. It's super easy to go the other way.
Just wanted to highlight his performance. We usually look for what players do on the ball. But as important is what they do without it. The amount of work he puts into the game is incredibly rare and amazing. Personification of going the extra mile. Tireless and gives everything he has on the pitch. Love him.
He's a better Gattuso; he's the engine of the team that holds everything together and drives the team forward. He's there in defense, midfield and attack. I love him too!
Gattuso was a DM more like Casemiro. I think Fede is more similar to Essien who had stamina, pace and technical ability. Essien a bit more of defensive expert while Fede a more consistent shooter.
Obviously Fede has a better shot, finishing and passing than Gattuso. But both share that same energy/drive [that tenacity] and both are legendary in their own right. You're right, Gerrard is a better 1:1 comparison.
I don’t know about comps but I think he’s probably my favorite Madrid player currently. Really exemplary attitude and commitment to the badge.
Nah, Fede is a workhorse and is better defender then Steven ever was. More like players like Ramires and Park ji Sung on the stamina and workrate department. He's the guy that does the dirty work.
Two completely different players but he reminds of Dani in the sense that he leaves everything on the pitch and from time to time he'll surprise you with a technical display or a goal.
There’s a reason why he’s always playing, I still think he is underrated technically, he can do everything, pass long and short, move the ball forward , get by his man one on one, move between the lines, score goals both from inside and outside the box with both feet, endless stamina, good positioning, solid defensively, just a fantastic player all around, one of my favourites on the squad currently too, doesn’t get as much hype as the younger mids but absolutely crucial for us I think
To get such a diamond for 4 million was an absolute steal. The passion he has for the badge is simply exemplary. Gives his all every single time.
At the same time it's important to remember how long it took for those 4 mil. to pay off. These transfers are always considered a mega move when they pan out but they take a huge amount of patience and development.
