McKennie long throw flicked on by Bremer, falls to Yildiz ... but his shot takes a deflection that slows it up and it's saved.
Quite a few times Wes and Weah made strong runs - only not to be rewarded with a pass - including from Chiesa. I get it that you do that more than 50% of the time to create space but you would expect once every third time you get the pass? And Rabiot and Chiesa both frequently look off the player making the run. But it is up to Allegri to fix. Both Wes and Tim started strong and backed off as they were not involved. Meanwhile Rabiot loses the ball a few times hanging onto it too long - and Chiesa manages to send crosses into the cheap seats. So yes I also don’t think Rabiot is all that he is cracked up to be.
Rabiot is a bang average player for Juve. Had a nice WC to revive himself a bit, but with Juve he's never really stood out good or bad, is just kinda there. Chiesa has tunnel vision and has been off form all year and dealing with knee soreness. Juve were relying on him to be 100% and he just isn't the same as before the injuries, at least so far. He did commit to coming back next year so we'll see. One of their main issues is that Weston is their best passer. Now Weston has worked hard to get there, but if he's your best passer in midfield, well, you need more for their ambition level.
FWIW, 2 Seasons ago he was judged to have been the best. Anyways, team is in shambles for 3 months now. Need CL Qualification and a hard reset. Allegri is only part of the problem.
Totally agree. And they are broke. It's going to be a decision for Weston if he wants to stay. He certainly has grown as a player there but the team low balled him and in all reality they may need to just sell him on to pay some bills.
McKennie starts! Weah is on the bench. Juventus visiting Lazio in the Coppa Italia Semifinal, 2nd leg {Juventus leading 0-2, from the first leg}.
NYCFC in the house as Taty Castellanos heads home the first goal of the day. 1-0 Lazio but still 1-2 in favor of Juve aggregate.
Locatelli gets a yellow and I think will be suspended for the final, if Juve get that far. Play went on and the ref came back to it later ... but somewhat bizarrely did not also give a yellow to the Lazio player who ended Juve's counter with an incredibly obvious cynical arm yank.
Wes not doing much in this game besides giving the ball away. Doesn’t seem to be playing with that much intensity; wonder if the contract talks are discouraging.
Just popping into the match thread to remind everyone that Castellanos was allegedly pursuing US Citizenship as recently as last year after obtaining a green card with NYCFC in 2020... ... I genuinely think he's a better player than both Pepi and Balo. The guy just scores goals no matter the level.
